As part of the forum "Exchange of experience in the field of environmental education and culture", 3,700 freshwater trout fry were released into the aquatic ecosystem of the Karatag River basin. This was reported on Friday by the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The event took place on July 16 at the ecological center of the Shirkent Historical and Natural Park "Shirkent", located in the village of Labi Djai. The event was attended by employees of the Committee for Environmental Protection, representatives of environmental public organizations, educational institutions, and local residents.
“The purpose of releasing the fry is to restore the freshwater trout population in the Karatag River basin and strengthen the biological diversity of the region,” the Committee’s press service noted.
As part of the forum, participants also exchanged views on issues of improving environmental culture and education, and organized an environmental campaign to clean the coast from household waste.
According to the organizers, such initiatives are aimed at forming a responsible attitude of citizens towards the environment and the conservation of natural resources of Tajikistan.
The number of enterprises producing import-substituting products is growing in Khujand
In the administrative center of the Sughd region – the city of Khujand – 23 small and medium-sized manufacturing enterprises were put into operation in the first six months of 2025, the press service of the executive body of state power of the city reports.
As specified, modern technologies were introduced in new production facilities, 142 jobs were created. The total investment in the implementation of projects amounted to over 20 million somoni, the funds were received through direct investments.
According to city authorities, the total number of industrial enterprises in Khujand has reached 321. Particular attention is paid to the development of industries that provide replacement of imported products. In the first half of 2025, 126 enterprises produced import-substituting products worth 490.9 million somoni. This is 82.8 million somoni or 20.3% more than in the same period in 2024.
In addition, the total volume of industrial output in the city for the specified period amounted to 922.7 million somoni, of which 214.7 million somoni were exported to foreign countries.
The city administration emphasizes that the growth in the number of production facilities and the volume of output makes a significant contribution to the implementation of the country's fourth strategic goal – the accelerated industrialization of Tajikistan.
