US President Donald Trump intends to "aggressively" pursue his intentions to end the armed conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine, US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce said on an American television channel.
"He continues to act decisively to realize his vision of ending this war," Bruce said, adding that the US president has been clear about the current situation and has remained patient despite the difficult circumstances.
According to the State Department representative, Trump is extremely unhappy that efforts to resolve the conflict have not yielded results so far. "He is unhappy that we have not yet been able to put an end to this bloodshed," Bruce emphasized. At the same time, she added that the current actions of the head of the White House, aimed at providing Ukraine with defensive weapons, are a reflection of his disappointment.
Bruce also confirmed that the US president intends to honor the country's commitments within the North Atlantic Alliance, including support for Ukraine in matters of security. "Trump remains committed to the agreements with NATO and will seek to ensure that Ukraine receives all the weapons it needs," she said.
Trump's Ultimatum to the Kremlin
Earlier, on July 14, Donald Trump made a resonant statement in which he gave the Kremlin 50 days to reach a peace agreement or end hostilities against Ukraine. Otherwise, as the American leader emphasized, the United States will introduce 100 percent duties on oil supplies from Russia, as well as on energy imports from countries that continue to cooperate with Moscow in the energy sector.
The White House also reported yesterday what will happen after this period ends. According to sources in the US administration, the possibility of tough economic measures and expanded military aid to Kyiv, including the transfer of modern air defense systems and attack drones, is being considered.
Thus, the Trump administration demonstrates its intention not only to put pressure on Russia in a diplomatic and economic format, but also to strengthen Ukraine’s defense capability until sustainable peace is achieved.
