Two representatives of the Republic of Tajikistan, Ismoil Samiev and Muhammadsoleh Kamoliyon, were awarded an honorable mention at the International Chemistry Olympiad (IChO-2025), which was held from July 5 to 14 this year in Dubai (UAE). This was reported by the State Institution "Republican Center for Search and Development of Talents".
Honorable Mention is an official form of international recognition of the level of knowledge of participants. The results of Tajik schoolchildren are included in the official list of winners of the Olympiad.
The Center provided an explanation in response to a request from social media user Izatullo Khomidzoda, who expressed concern about the results of the national team's participation. It is noted that the selection of the team for IChO-2025 was held in accordance with the approved regulations. The first national selection round, which took place on February 27, involved 47 schoolchildren, and the final team was formed based on the results of objective testing.
As for scientific directors (team leaders), the Center clarified that their appointment is based on international regulations, and the corresponding requests to change the personnel have not yet been satisfied by the organizing committees.
All expenses for the team’s preparation and participation – flights, visas, accommodation and insurance – were fully covered by the state, represented by the Republican Center for the Search and Development of Talents.
According to the Center, the participation of Tajik schoolchildren in international Olympiads demonstrates positive dynamics. If in 2023 only one representative of the country received an award, then in 2024 there were three, and in the first half of 2025 – already two. Participation in four more international Olympiads is also planned for the current year (in mathematics, physics, biology and computer science).
In order to increase the efficiency of preparation for such events, a draft regulatory act has been prepared – "Procedure for the selection, preparation and provision of participation of students of general educational institutions of the Republic of Tajikistan in international Olympiads". The document provides for the introduction of new approaches and is at the stage of approval in the Ministry of Education and Science.
The Republican Center for Search and Development of Talents expressed gratitude for the attention to educational issues and confirmed its openness to constructive dialogue with the public, specialists and specialized structures.
