The Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs for the city of Dushanbe continues active measures to suppress the activities of fortune tellers and sorcerers with the aim of completely eradicating this type of illegal activity.

According to law enforcement agencies, 90 cases of fortune telling and witchcraft were registered in the capital in the first six months of 2025. Administrative protocols were drawn up against 84 persons engaged in such activities under Article 482 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Tajikistan, and appropriate measures of influence were applied within the framework of the legislation.

Despite warnings and regular raids, some citizens continue to use fortune telling as a way to earn money. In connection with the repeated detection of offenses, criminal cases were initiated against six people under Article 240, Supplement 1 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan. Following the investigation, these individuals were held accountable in accordance with the court's decision.

Law enforcement officials are calling on the population to refrain from turning to fortune tellers and sorcerers, and to cooperate with the police in the fight against fraudsters who practice occult services in order to protect society from fraud and crime.
