Turkish Airlines Introduce Fines for Impatient Passengers

Airlines in Turkey will fine passengers who get up early after landing, Tengri Travel reports.

What can you get a fine for now? Turkey will now fine passengers who stand up after landing before the crew gives permission. The country's General Directorate of Civil Aviation (SHGM) has published a new circular.

"Recently, based on written and oral complaints from passengers, as well as the results of inspections conducted by the General Directorate, there has been a significant increase in the number of cases where passengers ignore the rules and, despite the announcements of the crew, get up from their seats, go out into the aisle, open the luggage racks and move around the cabin when the aircraft has not yet stopped and the seat belt signals remain on, thereby putting their own safety, that of other passengers and their baggage at risk," the document says.

The document specifies that airlines are required to make announcements about the ban on smoking and the need to fasten seat belts at all stages of the flight. Administrative fines will be applied to passengers who violate these instructions.

According to media reports, Turkish Airlines has notified its flight attendants of the changes.

It is also specified that, despite the fact that the amount of fines has not yet been determined, the airline's press service emphasizes that all measures will be taken within the framework of the law to prevent such incidents.
