On May 2, 2025, due to heavy rains, thunderstorms and mudflows, emergency situations were recorded in several regions of Tajikistan, the RT Emergency Situations Committee reports.
Thus, in the Devashtich district, a 25-year-old shepherd died from a lightning strike. His body was found and handed over to his relatives by the KChS employees.
In Khujand, rescuers from the Main Directorate of the Emergency Situations Committee for the Sughd Region saved an 18-year-old girl who fell into the Syr Darya River.
On the Ayni-Penjikent highway (5-25 km), mudflows blocked the road. By 15:10 it was cleared and opened. Household plots and canals in the village of Khushekat were damaged.
Mudflows have blocked the road again at 144–146 km of the Dushanbe–Khujand highway (Ayni district). After clearing, passage is permitted only for passenger cars, while truck traffic remains prohibited.
At the 290th km of the Dushanbe-Khorog highway (Darvaz district), the road remains closed to most vehicles. At 00:30 it was open only to SUVs such as Jeep.
In the Yavan district, 9 household plots were damaged as a result of mudflows. A 12-year-old boy was killed after being carried away by the stream.
The road services of the MNDRA in the affected areas, as well as specialized equipment from the IRS company, were involved in the liquidation of the consequences. Rescue and restoration work was carried out under the coordination of the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
