In the first half of 2026, 889,400 foreign tourists visited Tajikistan, a 16.7% increase compared to the same period last year. This was announced at a press conference by the Tourism Development Committee of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to preliminary data from the Statistics Agency, in just six months, the country was visited by 1 million 63.4 thousand foreign citizens, of which 889.4 thousand were classified as tourists.
The bulk of the tourist flow—806,900 people—were citizens of CIS countries. Another 82,500 tourists arrived from non-CIS countries.
The Committee noted that the steady increase in the number of foreign visitors was the result of the consistent implementation of the Tourism Development Strategy of the Republic of Tajikistan until 2030, state support for the industry, the development of tourism infrastructure, and the active promotion of the national tourism product internationally.
In recent years, the country has adopted a number of regulations aimed at stimulating the tourism industry. Hotel infrastructure continues to be modernized, tourist routes are being improved, and ecotourism, mountain tourism, and health and wellness tourism are developing.
Committee representatives emphasized that increased tourist flow contributes to increased employment, the development of small and medium-sized businesses, increased investment attractiveness in the regions, and the strengthening of Tajikistan's international image as one of the most promising tourist destinations in Central Asia.
