Law enforcement officers detained A.F. Jomi Eshmurodov, born in 1962, a resident of the Abdurahmoni district, on suspicion of altering computer information, according to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, the suspect worked as an accountant in the Abdurahmoni Jomi district's electrical grid sales department. Investigators believe that during his employment, he used a billing program installed in a computer system to enter false information into the personal accounts of several public institutions, including educational institutions, the central district hospital, and the district's executive government agency.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, by inflating the figures, the suspect illegally entered information on the specified personal accounts indicating the consumption of 1,234,846 kilowatt-hours of electricity, amounting to 384,300 somoni. This data was then submitted to the Bokhtar branch of Electric Distribution Networks OJSC. As a result, according to the investigation, the organizations and the company's branch suffered significant material damage.
Furthermore, according to investigators, in order to improve his performance and conceal excessive technical and commercial electricity losses, the suspect entered false information into technical inspection and calculation reports. Enterprises and budgetary institutions in the district were issued data on an additional 1,421,874 kilowatt-hours of electricity, amounting to 433,480 somoni, after which this information was submitted for inclusion in the billing program.
An investigation into this incident is ongoing.
