In the first six months of 2026, 11,731 crimes were registered in Tajikistan, a decrease compared to the same period last year, when 13,089 crimes were recorded. However, the number of crimes related to drug trafficking increased, Zafar Samad, Director of the Drug Control Agency, announced at a press conference on July 13.
According to him, 592 drug-related crimes were recorded in the first half of this year, accounting for approximately 5% of the total. In the same period in 2025, 534 such crimes were recorded.
According to the agency's director, law enforcement agencies seized 2,963 kilograms of narcotics during the reporting period. This is 143 kilograms, or 5%, less than in the same period last year.
As of July 1, 2026, there are 3,959 people registered with drug addiction in Tajikistan.
Compared to the same period last year, the number of registered drug addicts decreased by 43 people, or 1.1%, noted Zafar Samad.
Of those registered, 111 are women. By comparison, in the first half of 2025, 108 women with drug addiction were registered.
In the first half of 2026, 231 people were diagnosed with drug addiction for the first time. During the same period, 40 deaths were recorded among patients with drug addiction.
