The National Library of Tajikistan hosted a literary and cultural event, "Today's Reader—Creator of the Future," organized by the Reader Services Department of the National Library of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, the library's press service reported.
The initiative is being implemented as part of the educational policy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, and is also timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the country's state independence.
The main goal of the new literary and cultural club is to promote the intellectual development of children and young people during the summer holidays.
The first event was titled "From Fairy Tales to Knowledge." It was dedicated to introducing children and adolescents to fiction, developing a reading culture, and nurturing the younger generation in the spirit of patriotism, friendship, mutual assistance, and responsibility.
The opening remarks were given by the Director of the National Library, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences Lutfiya Abdulkholiqzoda.
According to her, the institution's work plan for July and August includes more than 45 literary, cultural, educational, and entertainment events. One of the program's highlights will be the literary and cultural club "Today's Reader—Creator of the Future," which aims to strengthen the culture of reading, promote books, and attract as many children and teenagers as possible to the library.
During the cultural portion of the program, characters from famous children's fairy tales performed for the participants. The children recited poems, performed songs, and actively participated in contests and quizzes dedicated to books and reading.

Following the meeting, the organizers announced that similar literary and cultural events would be held at the National Library every week.
The library emphasized that holding such meetings helps expand the horizons of children and adolescents, develop an interest in reading, strengthen a culture of reading, and raise an educated and self-aware generation.
