Since the beginning of 2026, more than 3.7 million seedlings have been planted in Tajikistan, exceeding the country's annual greening plan. This was announced on July 9 at a press conference summarizing the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan's performance in the first half of 2026.
According to the data presented, the annual plan called for the planting of 3,622,586 seedlings. As of May 31, 3,774,939 seedlings had been planted in the republic's cities and districts.
Thus, the plan was fulfilled by 104%, the Committee reported.
The agency cited exceeding tree planting targets as one of the significant results of the environmental sector's activities in the first half of this year.
Landscaping work is carried out within the framework of the state environmental policy of Tajikistan and measures aimed at improving the state of the environment.
The Committee for Environmental Protection also continues to implement national environmental programs, work on adaptation to climate change, and activities to improve environmental literacy among the population.
According to the agency, thousands of environmental events were held across the country during the reporting period. More than 262,000 Tajik residents participated.
