In the first half of 2026, Tajikistan exported 1 billion 45.1 million kWh of electricity, worth 292.2 million somoni. Compared to the same period last year, the physical volume of supplies decreased by 78.1 million kWh, or 7%. This was stated in the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources' reporting documents for the first half of 2026.
The main export destinations were Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
Over the course of six months, 702.7 million kWh of electricity worth 283.9 million somoni were supplied to Afghanistan.
Electricity exports to Uzbekistan amounted to 338.9 million kWh.
In addition, 3.1 million kWh of electricity worth 1.1 million somoni was exported by Pamir Energy.
The ministry noted the seasonal nature of external supplies. Approximately 90% of all electricity exported occurred between April and June, the period of increased river inflow.
Amid declining exports, domestic electricity production also declined. In the first half of the year, Tajikistan generated 11 billion 656.4 million kWh of electricity—1.3% less than the previous year.
