On June 30, a meeting of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan was held under the chairmanship of the President of Tajikistan and head of government Emomali Rahmon. During the meeting, state programs in the fields of agriculture, culture, industry, energy, and tourism, as well as a number of legislative and investment initiatives, were reviewed.
Opening the meeting, Emomali Rahmon recognized the achievements of the late Chairman of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Alisher Mirzonabot, whose body was found in the Panj River on the morning of June 30. In his memory, the meeting participants observed a moment of silence.


One of the main items on the agenda was the consideration of the State Program for Innovative Development of the Cotton Growing Sector of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026–2030. Minister of Agriculture Kurbon Hakimzoda delivered the report.
It was noted that the program was developed taking into account the significant role of cotton growing in providing employment, producing raw materials for the light and food industries, increasing the country's export potential, and ensuring the sustainable development of the industry.


During the discussion, it was emphasized that cotton production remains a key sector of Tajikistan's agro-industrial complex. The program aims to address the sector's existing problems, create favorable conditions for its further development, organize the cultivation of domestic and foreign cotton varieties, and improve the training of specialists.
The government also reviewed the State Program for the Development of Sericulture and Cocoon Processing in the Republic of Tajikistan for 2026–2030.


According to the document, the program's main objectives are to increase silkworm cocoon production, ensure employment, develop export potential, attract investment, and modernize processing technologies. The program's implementation includes the development of mulberry plantations, the import of silkworm seeds, silkworm breeding, cocoon production, and the manufacture of finished products.
Another item on the agenda was the State Program for the Development of Rural Libraries of the Republic of Tajikistan for 2027–2031. The document provides for the development of rural libraries, improvement of the training and retraining system for staff, strengthening of the material and technical infrastructure of institutions, and bringing their operations into line with modern requirements.
In addition, the program provides for equipping rural libraries with computers, connecting them to the Internet, creating electronic book collections, improving the qualifications of library staff, and expanding the readership, primarily by engaging children, teenagers, and young adults in reading.


Following the discussion, the President of Tajikistan instructed relevant ministries and agencies to ensure the implementation of all presented state programs.
The meeting also considered the Work Plan of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan for the second half of 2026, the draft Law of the Republic of Tajikistan "On Official Statistics", the draft investment agreement between the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and Crystal Green Glass LLC on the construction and commissioning of enterprises for the production and enrichment of quartz, the production of panel glass and glass containers, the Rules for connecting electricity generated from renewable energy sources to the energy system and its sale to consumers, as well as issues of support for the Tourism Development Fund of the Republic of Tajikistan.


At the end of the meeting, Emomali Rahmon instructed, within the framework of the implementation of the United Nations resolution "International Decade for the Consolidation of Peace for Future Generations (2027–2036)", to develop comprehensive programs and intensify activities to promote a culture of peace both domestically and internationally.
In addition, responsible officials were instructed to expand replanting on irrigated lands, create necessary seed reserves, and ensure adequate preparation for the celebration of the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan by intensifying landscaping and construction work.
