On June 30, the play "Bobojon Gafurov," dedicated to the life and work of the outstanding statesman, scholar, and Hero of Tajikistan, will premiere in Dushanbe. The production will be presented at the Muhammadjon Kosymov Experimental Theater for Young Spectators. The performance is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM.
According to the theater, the production was prepared as part of events celebrating the 35th anniversary of the State Independence of the Republic of Tajikistan. The performance is based on historical documents, letters, and other reliable sources. It transports audiences to a period when questions of the historical identity of the Tajik people and their national history were at the center of socio-political debate.
The director and co-author of the play was Abdulhafiz Kodiri, a teacher at the Tajik State Institute of Culture and Arts.
According to the creators, the main goal of the play is not only to tell the story of Bobojon Gafurov's life, but also to introduce the younger generation to his contribution to preserving historical memory and strengthening national identity.
The production's creators note that Bobojon Gafurov's name is familiar to many since childhood, but far from everyone knows about his work defending the history and culture of the Tajik people during the difficult times of his time. It is these little-known chapters of his biography that the production explores.
One of the performance's distinctive features will be the creation of a living gallery of prominent figures of Tajik culture and science on stage. According to theater director Firdavs Kosimov, along with Bobojon Gafurov, audiences will see characters embodying Mirsaid Mirshakar, Sadriddin Ayni, Muhammadjon Kosimov, Mirzo Tursunzade, and Tukhfa Fozilova. The creators intend this to recreate the cultural and scientific atmosphere of the era in which the nation's destiny and the national identity of the Tajik people were shaped.
