On June 24, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan held an event dedicated to International Women's Diplomacy Day, established by a UN General Assembly resolution. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported this.
The meeting focused on increasing women's participation in the diplomatic service, strengthening gender equality, and promoting an inclusive approach in international relations.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Nigina Alizoda, Ambassador of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland to Tajikistan Catherine Smithton, Ambassador of France to Tajikistan Elsa Pigneul, representatives of the diplomatic corps accredited in the country, veterans and employees of the diplomatic service, as well as students from specialized higher education institutions.






During the meeting, participants emphasized the important role of women in developing modern diplomacy, strengthening international cooperation, maintaining peace, and advancing sustainable development. It was also noted that increasing women's participation in decision-making at all levels contributes to the effectiveness and sustainability of international institutions.
Particular attention was paid to the contribution of veterans of the diplomatic service to the development of Tajik diplomacy. Participants noted the importance of preserving and passing on professional experience, knowledge, and diplomatic traditions to the younger generation of specialists, emphasizing the importance of intergenerational continuity for the further strengthening of the national diplomatic school and the training of highly qualified personnel.
As part of the event, a quiz was held among students, the winners of which were awarded diplomas.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event became a platform for dialogue between active diplomats, veterans of the diplomatic service, and young people, helping to increase student interest in the diplomatic service and international relations.
