Rescuers from the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defense in Sughd Region saved another person from drowning during the swimming season, the Committee reported .
According to the department, on June 16, 2026, at approximately 6:20 p.m., a resident of the city of Khujand, Alisher Alievich Samadov, born April 19, 2009, was swimming in a recreation area near the Syr Darya River in Khujand.
Due to a failure to observe water safety regulations, the young man began to drown. However, a team of rescuers from the Special Operational Rescue Squad of the Emergency Situations Committee of the Sughd Region arrived promptly and saved the victim.
The agency noted that since the start of the current swimming season, Committee staff have already saved 10 people from drowning. Rescuers previously saved nine citizens.
Due to the increasing number of water-related accidents, the Emergency Situations Committee has once again called on citizens to avoid recreation and swimming in prohibited and dangerous areas.
