For the first time, the US Senate has supported a resolution calling for an end to US military action against Iran. During the vote, 50 senators supported the resolution, while 47 voted against.
According to the text of the resolution, any future military action on Iranian territory must receive approval from the US Congress.
As CBS notes, the Senate's passage of the resolution is only the first step in its potential approval. Even if both chambers of Congress support the resolution, US President Donald Trump is expected to veto it.
The upper chamber of the US Congress had previously rejected this document seven times. However, now, for the first time, the resolution has received the support of a majority of senators.
