The Tajikistan national under-20 football team began its performance at the 2026 CAFA U-20 Championship with a victory over the Turkmenistan team.
The first round match took place on May 13 at the Hisor Central Stadium and ended with a score of 2-1 in favor of the Tajik team. With this victory, the Tajikistan team earned its first three points in the tournament.
Later that day, another first-round match is scheduled to take place at the Hisor Central Stadium, between Afghanistan and Uzbekistan.
The 2026 CAFA U-20 Championship is being held in Tajikistan using a round-robin format. The tournament features youth teams from Afghanistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan.
The first round matches began on May 12. On that day, the Turkmenistan team defeated Afghanistan 3-1, while the Uzbekistan team defeated Kyrgyzstan 2-0.
After the matches played, the national teams of Uzbekistan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan have three points each.
The next matches of the tournament will take place on May 15 at the TalCo Arena stadium in Tursunzade. Kyrgyzstan will play Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan will face Afghanistan.
On May 17, the matches will take place at the stadium in Gissar: Kyrgyzstan will play Afghanistan, and Tajikistan will play Uzbekistan.
The final matches of the tournament will take place on May 19 at the TalCo Arena stadium. First, the national teams of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan will meet, followed by Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
