The pediatric surgery department at the Shifobakhsh National Medical Center of Tajikistan successfully performed a complex and rare surgical procedure for the first time in the country. According to specialists, this procedure is performed on only one in 50,000 children worldwide. This was reported by the Ministry of Health of Tajikistan.
This is a surgical procedure to reconstruct the bladder and anterior abdominal wall in cases of recurrent exstrophy. The surgery was performed in collaboration with specialists from the Federal State Budgetary Institution "Research Institute of Pediatric Surgery and Traumatology" of the Russian Federation.


According to the Shifobakhsh Center's pediatric surgery department, the operation was successful. Following the surgery, the patient was transferred to the pediatric intensive care unit in satisfactory condition.
According to officials, many doctors and staff members at the medical center observed the operation. During the operation, the specialists were able to enhance their professional knowledge, as well as gain additional experience and practical skills in performing such rare surgical procedures.


The Ministry of Health reported that the Shifobakhsh Center's pediatric surgery department plans to increase the number of complex and rare surgeries performed with the participation of specialists from Tajikistan and other countries.
It is emphasized that this will allow the introduction of modern methods of treating childhood diseases into the country's healthcare system.
