Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, met with Khaled Al-Anani, Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), in Beijing on Tuesday.
Peng Liyuan, UNESCO Special Envoy for Girls' and Women's Education, congratulated H. Al-Anani on his election as UNESCO Director-General and praised the important role the organization plays in advancing global female education.
The wife of the Chinese President informed H. al-Anani of China's achievements in developing girls' and women's education and expressed her readiness to continue fulfilling her duties as Special Envoy, strengthen cooperation with UNESCO, and promote the continuous progress of female education worldwide.
H. Al-Anani, in turn, praised Peng Liyuan's outstanding contribution to girls' and women's education worldwide during her tenure as UNESCO Special Envoy. Expressing UNESCO's gratitude to China for its invaluable support, the Director-General stated that the organization is committed to further deepening exchanges and cooperation with China to promote the further development of global female education.
