A woman was detained in Sogd for allegedly inciting a suicide attempt.

In the Sughd region, police officers detained a 63-year-old resident of the Devashtich district on suspicion of driving her daughter-in-law to attempt suicide.

According to the Tajik Ministry of Internal Affairs, the woman had been abusing her 24-year-old daughter-in-law since 2024, and had also humiliated her honor and dignity.

According to the agency, on April 8, unable to bear the constant pressure and bullying, the girl attempted suicide by drinking vinegar essence. The victim was taken to the hospital with poisoning.

A criminal case has been opened against the suspect under Article 109 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan – “Incitement to suicide.”
