In the city of Gissar, the last participant of the Great Patriotic War, Radzhab Ismonov, died at the age of 100.
The Hisor city executive authority, the Council of War and Labor Veterans, the Hisor Council of the National Unity and Revival Movement of Tajikistan, and the Movement's Council of Elders expressed their deepest condolences to the veteran's children, relatives, and loved ones on the occasion of his passing. This was reported by the city executive authority's press service.
Radzhab Ismonov was born on October 5, 1926, in the village of Khayoti Nav, Gissar rural jamoat, Gissar city. In 1944, at the age of 18, he was drafted into the Armed Forces of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics and fought in World War II against fascism.
He took part in fierce battles for the liberation of Ukraine and Poland from the Nazi invaders and celebrated Victory Day in Berlin.
After the Victory over fascism, he returned to his homeland and worked for 25 years as a foreman on the 50th Anniversary of October farm in the city of Gissar until his retirement.
Radzhab Ismonov was awarded orders and medals for military and labor merits, as well as state honorary certificates.
