In 2025, 264,913 children were born in Tajikistan, 1,496 more than in 2024. Last year, 263,417 births were registered in the country. This was announced by Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, Minister of Health and Social Protection of the Republic of Tajikistan, at a press conference on January 28.
The minister noted that a decrease in infant mortality rates has also been recorded. The mortality rate for children under one year old is 10.8 cases per 1,000 live births, which is lower than the 2024 figure of 11.8 cases per 1,000 live births.

According to Jamoliddin Abdullozoda, the mortality rate for children under five has also decreased, from 14 to 13.1 cases per 1,000 live births.
According to the minister, the reduction in infant mortality and the increase in the birth rate are important indicators of the development of the country's healthcare system, as well as the result of state policy to improve medical care for mothers and children, strengthen preventive measures, and increase the availability of medical care for the population in urban and rural areas.
