A ceremony to issue passports to students of educational institutions was held in the city of Istaravshan, the press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan reported.
Citizens' passport applications are accepted and processed promptly at the Passport and Registration Service of the Istaravshan Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This service has created all the necessary conditions for processing documents in accordance with legal requirements.
Citizens applying for a passport for the first time receive an individual tax identification number (ITN) and a fingerprint certificate from a forensic expert through the tax office's online services. All services are paid for by bank transfer at the office.
To ensure timely receipt of passports, service staff visit schools, where teenagers are provided with information about the passport system and conduct outreach activities. This allows teenagers who have reached passport age to express interest in obtaining their primary identity document in a timely manner.
Ceremonial and group events for issuing passports to students are held regularly. Last week, a similar event was held for students of educational institutions No. 21 and No. 69 in the Chorbog rural jamoat of Istaravshan. Representatives from the Istaravshan City Department of Internal Affairs, the leadership of the Sughd Region Department of Internal Affairs, and the Istaravshan City Department of Education participated.
Over 100 students received passports during the event. The first experience of receiving a passport in a formal setting remains a memorable event for teenagers. Outreach efforts by responsible staff regarding the passport system and regulations help improve legal literacy among young people.

Since the beginning of 2026, in anticipation of the approaching deadline for applicants to higher education institutions in the country, Istaravshan Passport Service staff, together with educational institutions, have organized a group student reception to prepare them for the application process at the National Testing Center.
