As part of cooperation among the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), it is planned to establish a base organization in the field of medical rehabilitation and spa treatment. A meeting of the expert group to finalize the draft Regulations on the base organization took place on January 29, 2026. This was reported by the press service of the CIS Executive Committee.
The event was attended by plenipotentiary representatives from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, as well as employees of the CIS Executive Committee.


As a reminder, at the meeting of the CIS Council for Cooperation in Healthcare held in October 2025 in Dushanbe, the health ministers of the Commonwealth countries supported the initiative of the Russian Ministry of Health to establish a base organization for CIS member states in the field of medical rehabilitation and spa treatment. It is proposed to grant the status of base organization to the National Medical Research Center for Rehabilitation and Balneology of the Russian Ministry of Health.
The basic organization is being created to coordinate scientific research, educational, organizational and methodological activities in the areas of medical rehabilitation and spa treatment, as well as to ensure interaction in these areas between medical organizations, medical educational and scientific structures of the Commonwealth countries.
During the meeting, experts discussed the key areas of activity of the future base organization, the rights and responsibilities of participants, and funding issues, and also agreed on draft Regulations and Decisions of the CIS Economic Council.
