In 2025, employees of the Drug Control Agency under the President of the Republic of Tajikistan seized 689 kilograms 647 grams of narcotics from illegal circulation, an increase of 185 kilograms 294 grams, or 37%, compared to 2024. This was announced by the agency's director, Zafar Samad, at a press conference on the results of 2025 on February 2.
According to him, in 2025, the activities of 44 criminal groups, which included 88 people, were also identified and stopped.
During the reporting year, two joint operations were conducted with the competent authorities of the Russian Federation and one operation with the competent authorities of the Kyrgyz Republic. As a result of these operations, 95 kilograms and 250 grams of narcotics were seized from illegal circulation.
In total, in 2025, law enforcement agencies of Tajikistan seized 5 tons 280 kilograms of narcotics from illegal circulation.
In addition, 253 kilograms and 417 grams of psychotropic substances were seized from illegal circulation, an increase of 142 kilograms, or double, compared to the 2024 total. Of this amount, 247 kilograms, or 97%, was methamphetamine.
Zafar Samad also reported that as of January 1, 2026, there were 4,004 registered drug addicts in Tajikistan. According to him, this figure has decreased by 10 compared to the previous year. Of this total, 105 are women.
Following the press conference, a ceremony to burn the narcotics took place in the agency's special furnace in the presence of a special commission and journalists.
