The 12-year education system in Tajikistan will initially be implemented in a pilot format. This was announced by Tajikistan's Minister of Education and Science, Rahim Saidzoda, at a press conference.
According to him, an interdepartmental working group has been established under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Tajikistan to work on this issue. The group's responsibilities include developing an action plan, preparing curricula, ensuring the readiness of educational institutions and teaching staff, and organizing outreach efforts.
The Minister noted that there are more than 180 new-type institutions in Tajikistan, and in the future, the 12-year education system could be introduced on a pilot basis in these institutions, as they have greater opportunities for transitioning to the new system.

It was emphasized that the implementation of this initiative is based on the instructions of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and is one of the important stages of reforming the education sector.
According to industry experts, the transition to a 12-year education system is an objective necessity, as it improves the quality of education and aligns the national education system with international standards. It is noted that the experience of several countries demonstrates the success and comprehensive testing of the transition to a 12-year education system.
In this regard, the Ministry of Education and Science of Tajikistan, with the broad involvement of specialists and the use of advanced international experience, intends to implement this plan in stages and taking into account national interests.

It is recalled that in his Address to the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan on December 16, 2025, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon instructed responsible officials to take measures now to prepare for the transition to a 12-year education system in order to bring the education system into line with international standards. The need for such a transition was also emphasized in the President's Addresses to the Majlisi Oli in 2009 and 2011.
It is noted that the advantages of the transition to a 12-year education system include the organization of training in areas of study, the development of professional training at the level of general education institutions in accordance with the abilities and interests of students, taking into account the characteristics of their intellectual and physical development, as well as increasing the effectiveness of quality education as a key factor in the development of society.
