Unstable weather with precipitation is expected in most regions of Tajikistan from February 10 to 14, according to the press service of the Hydrometeorology Agency of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
According to the agency, precipitation is forecast to be predominantly rain in the valley and foothill areas, sleet in the mountains, and snow in the highlands. The change in weather conditions is due to the passage of a westerly cyclone and atmospheric frontal divisions.
Snowfall, sometimes heavy, is expected in mountain passes, along with winds up to 15–20 m/s. Traffic will be difficult on mountain highways, with snowdrifts and reduced visibility predicted.
It is noted that from February 11 to 14, heavy precipitation is expected in certain valley-foothill and mountainous regions of republican subordination.
On February 12, under the influence of a western anticyclone, a temperature drop of 2–3 degrees is forecast. In Dushanbe, temperatures are expected to range from 11 to 15 degrees Celsius throughout the week.
In addition, from February 10 to 14, avalanches are expected on avalanche-prone sections of the Dushanbe-Chanak highway at kilometers 48–74, on the Maykhura and Zidekh sections of the Varzob district, as well as in the mountainous regions of republican subordination and in the west of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region.
Due to adverse weather conditions, the population, in particular drivers, are advised to refrain from traveling to mountainous and avalanche-prone areas unless absolutely necessary.
