Last year, Tajik authorities opened criminal cases against 270 people, primarily fathers, on suspicion of evading child support payments. By comparison, criminal cases were opened against 320 people in 2024, according to Akhtam Abdullozoda, Head of the Enforcement Service, at a press conference on February 10.
He also noted that 753 people were wanted for child support evasion and concealing their place of residence. In 2024, 514 people were wanted for similar reasons.

Abdullozoda did not specify the penalties imposed on the 270 individuals against whom criminal cases were opened. However, he noted that Article 177 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Tajikistan stipulates that failure to pay child support is punishable by correctional labor or imprisonment for up to three years.
The head of the Enforcement Service reported that a total of 13,765 individuals are currently listed as arrears in child support payments. Of these, 8,332 were added to the debtor's register with travel restrictions until 2025.
According to Abdullozoda, 179,904,447 somoni in child support payments were collected from fathers in 2025 for mothers and children. This figure is 147,189,963 somoni higher than the 2024 level.
