Ten people, including the gunman, were killed in a shooting at Tumbler Ridge High School in British Columbia, western Canada. At least 25 others were injured, two of whom are in serious condition, Reuters reported on February 11, citing local police.
According to law enforcement, six bodies were found inside the school building, and another victim died en route to the hospital. According to CBC, the bodies of two more victims were found at a location related to the incident. The suspected attacker committed suicide.
As AFP notes, Canadian media initially reported that the shooter was a woman, but police have not yet revealed the identity of the attacker, although they say they have identified him.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said on social media that he was "devastated" by the incident. "My prayers and deepest condolences go out to the families and friends who lost loved ones in this horrific act of violence," he said.
