Tajik President Emomali Rahmon signed a decree allocating 2,040,000 somoni from the presidential reserve fund to award winners and runners-up of international sports competitions and their coaches.
According to the document, the Ministry of Finance is instructed to transfer funds to the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic in 2026. The funds are intended to award 67 athletes according to the attached list.
The Committee on Youth and Sports Affairs must ensure the timely and targeted use of funds and submit a report on expenses incurred to the Ministry of Finance.
The document emphasizes that the sports sector and professional athletes enjoy the support and attention of the president, and their achievements in international competitions are considered a worthy representation of the country on the world stage.
The President's Prize has been awarded for the fifth year in a row to winners and runners-up of international competitions, as well as their coaches. This year, awards will be given to athletes in eight sports: judo, freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling, boxing, rowing, taekwondo (VT), sambo, and kickboxing.
The total prize fund is 2,040,000 somoni. Depending on the athlete's performance, the prize money can reach 150,000 somoni.
