Two people have been arrested in Dushanbe for practicing fortune telling and witchcraft.

During an investigation, officers from the Sino District Department of Internal Affairs (ODMVD-1) uncovered two instances of fortune-telling and witchcraft, according to the Dushanbe Department of Internal Affairs.

According to the agency, 42-year-old Dushanbe resident Gayurova Mijgona and 67-year-old resident of the Firdavsi district Yunusova Sanavbar were detained while engaged in fortune telling.

During the investigation, it was established that the said individuals, using harmala, water, a blade, cards, threads, soap, various sweets, locks and other objects, were engaged in fortune telling, deriving material benefits from this.

Administrative protocols were filed against them under Article 482 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Tajikistan. The Firdavsi District Court ordered each of them to pay an administrative fine of 80 calculated units, or 6,000 somoni.
