In Tajikistan, Nutrilon and Malutka brand baby milk products are being recalled from sale due to possible contamination of one batch with the toxin cereulide. This was reported by NIAT Khovar, citing the Agency for Standardization, Metrology, Certification, and Trade Supervision under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The decision was made based on a letter from the manufacturer DANONE and an official request from the importer of the products into the country, Rushon LLC.
The Agency warned citizens to return products from a specific batch, which may pose a health hazard. Manufacturer DANONE confirmed that this batch may contain the toxin cereulide, which poses a health risk to consumers. Information about the batch subject to return is posted on the Agency's official website.
It is noted that this incident involving Nutrilon and Malutka products is not unique to Tajikistan. Similar situations have previously occurred in other countries. Specifically, recalls of infant formulas related to the presence of toxins or bacteria have been recorded in European Union countries.
Citizens of Tajikistan who purchased products from this batch can return them to the point of sale or contact specialized services to process the return. Contact information for the hotlines is available on the Agency's website.
It is emphasized that the discontinuation applies exclusively to the specific batch of products subject to return. The remaining batches of Nutrilon and Malutka remain safe for consumption and may continue to be used.
