Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov stated in an interview with the Kabar news agency that abuses and abuses of power by representatives of the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan will be investigated and those responsible will be held accountable.
The head of state emphasized that the concept of "covering up" for those who commit illegal acts, regardless of their position or status, does not exist in the country. He stated that in serving the people, the state places the law above all else, and this principle was applied even in cases involving close relatives and acquaintances.
Commenting on social media accusations that individual GKNB officers were using the name of former special services head Kamchybek Tashiev to commit illegal acts for their own personal gain, Japarov stated that if such cases are discovered, they will be investigated.
"If it is discovered that individual representatives of the intelligence services or other government agencies have acted outside the law and exceeded their authority, they will certainly be investigated and held accountable. We are all equal before the law," the president noted.
Speaking about the future of the State Committee for National Security, Japarov stated that the committee has fully fulfilled its mission, and in some areas, even exceeded it. At the same time, he emphasized that the state is a living organism that must constantly evolve and change. "The world is changing, and our state institutions must keep pace with the times, renew and develop. Therefore, the State Committee for National Security will undergo a thorough reform that addresses modern threats and global changes," Japarov stated.
In conclusion, Japarov assured that the fight against corruption and crime in Kyrgyzstan will continue and will not be stopped, and these phenomena must be completely eradicated.
On February 10, the President of Kyrgyzstan dismissed Kamchybek Tashiev, head of the State Committee for National Security, and his three deputies. Zhumgalbek Shabdanbekov was appointed acting chairman of the State Committee. The President explained his decision by citing the need to strengthen national unity and prevent divisions in society.
Following the October 2020 change of power in Kyrgyzstan, Tashiev was appointed head of the country's special services by his ally Sadyr Japarov, who then took over as acting president of the republic.
