In Afghanistan, men are now officially allowed to beat their wives, as long as it doesn't cause serious consequences to the woman's health, the Daily Mail reported.
According to a law passed by the Taliban movement, a husband can be sentenced to 15 days in prison only if he beats his wife with a stick and causes serious injuries. In this case, the woman must prove the injuries in court while wearing fully covering clothing next to the husband who beat her.
Furthermore, the law prohibits female residents from hiding from domestic violence with relatives. A woman who repeatedly goes to her father's house without her husband's permission and fails to return may be sentenced to three months in prison.
Earlier, broadband internet was shut down in 11 of Afghanistan's 34 provinces "as part of a policy of morality." According to sources, the order was issued by President Heybatullah Akhundzada.
