The United States plans to complete the full deployment of its troops in the Middle East by mid-March, The Washington Post reported, citing informed sources.
According to the publication, senior national security advisers to US President Donald Trump met at the situation center on Wednesday to discuss the situation surrounding Iran. They were informed that all US forces deployed to the region will be fully operational by mid-March.
The newspaper notes that the Trump administration is deliberately seeking to make the buildup of its military presence in the region public.
On Tuesday, the second round of US-Iran nuclear talks took place in Geneva. Both sides assessed the talks positively. However, US Vice President J.D. Vance later stated that Washington's key demands remain unmet.
IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi expressed concern on Thursday that the increased US military presence in the Middle East indicates diminishing prospects for a diplomatic solution to the Iranian nuclear issue.
Trump previously stated that Iran has 10-15 days to reach a nuclear agreement with the United States, emphasizing that Washington will achieve a deal "one way or another." He also warned that without an agreement with Iran, "very bad things will happen."
