The Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Japanese company Yachiyo Engineering Co., Ltd. signed a consulting services agreement for the project "Modernization of goods scanning equipment at the customs checkpoint in the Spitamen area on the international route of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor." This was announced by the Customs Service under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan.
During a meeting between the Customs Service leadership and a delegation from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Office in Dushanbe, the project "Modernization of Cargo Scanning Equipment at the Customs Checkpoint in the Spitamen District – Regional Customs Administration of the Sughd Region on the International Route of the Trans-Caspian Corridor" was discussed. Particular attention was paid to the research work of Japanese specialists.
The Japan International Cooperation Agency working group also considered conducting a detailed study and further improving the project to develop customs scanning infrastructure. A tender for the purchase and supply of scanning equipment is scheduled for May 2026. It is emphasized that the equipment production period following the completion of the tender process will be approximately 11 months.
It was noted that a JICA research team had previously conducted field studies in the Republic of Tajikistan twice—in 2024 and 2025. Based on these studies, preliminary design work and an economic assessment of the project were completed in Japan.
