A new regular international bus service with sleeping berths began operating between Dushanbe and Tashkent on February 25, 2026, according to vaib.uz.
The bus departs from Tashkent on Tuesdays and Fridays at 5:00 PM, and returns from Dushanbe on Wednesdays and Saturdays at 1:00 PM. Travel time is approximately 15–17 hours. Travel time has also been reported to be around 14 hours.
At the Dushanbe International Terminal, passengers were greeted with Eastern hospitality and the accompaniment of national musical instruments. The new route aims to make travel between the two capitals more convenient.
Buses with both sleeping and seating options are available. A one-way ticket costs 250 somoni. In addition to the ticket, each passenger must have a passport.
According to Anvarbek Rakhmatov, head of the transport holding's bus transportation department, the route was launched at the initiative of the two countries' leaders. He noted that interest in this route from residents has been very high, and the route is expected to contribute to the development of political, economic, and tourist ties. Plans call for increasing the number of routes.
It was also noted that residents of both countries had long awaited this service, and its launch will be a significant event, strengthening fraternal relations between the peoples of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. It was emphasized that the bus is comfortable.
Buses will run twice a week: from Dushanbe on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and from Tashkent on Tuesdays and Fridays.
