As part of the first meeting of Central Asian and UK foreign ministers in the C5+1 format, held on February 25, 2026, at the UK Parliament building, students from Central Asian countries, including Tajik students, met with their foreign ministers. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
During the meeting, Tajikistan's Foreign Minister, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, learned about the living and educational conditions of Tajik students at UK universities. He expressed hope that, after successfully completing their studies, the young specialists would return to Tajikistan and use their acquired knowledge and skills to advance their country.
Every year, under the Durakhshandagon presidential scholarship, talented young people from Tajikistan are sent to study in developed countries, including the United Kingdom, where they receive education in economics, politics, and foreign languages at leading universities.
On the sidelines of this meeting, Sirojiddin Muhriddin and UK Secretary of State for Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Affairs Yvette Cooper signed a Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in science, higher education, and English language learning. This document opens new opportunities for expanding cooperation between Tajikistan and the United Kingdom in science and education.
