On March 9, 2026, a training and practical workshop on air quality in Central Asia opened in Manchester, United Kingdom. The first stage of the event was held at the University of Manchester, according to the press service of the Environment Committee.
The seminar is attended by specialists and experts from Central Asian countries. The main goal of the event is to strengthen knowledge and technical skills in air quality monitoring, develop the capacity of national laboratories, and exchange experience between institutions in Central Asia and the United Kingdom.


During the seminar, Abdukayum Kalandarzoda, Head of the Department of State Control over the Use and Protection of Atmospheric Air of the Committee for Environmental Protection, presented a report on air quality monitoring in Tajikistan. In his speech, he outlined current achievements and future goals in this area.
The programme is said to continue at research facilities in York and London.
