On March 9, the 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women opened at the United Nations headquarters in New York. A delegation from the Republic of Tajikistan, led by Bunafshi Fayziddinzoda, Chairperson of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, is participating in the session, reports NIAT Khovavr.
During the meeting, Committee Chairperson Bunafsha Fayziddinzoda will deliver a report on the promotion of gender policy in Tajikistan, support for women in the country, strengthening the equal rights and opportunities of women and men, enhancing the role of women in political and public life, and improving women's and girls' access to education, social services, and justice.
It is noted that during the session, special attention will be paid to issues of ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls, including through the promotion of inclusive and fair legal systems, the elimination of discriminatory practices, and overcoming structural barriers.
The 70th session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women is taking place from 9 to 16 March.
On March 10, Bunafsha Fayziddinzoda, Chair of the Committee on Women and Family Affairs of Tajikistan, held a meeting with Tajik women and girls living in New York.
During the meeting, issues of strengthening ties with compatriots abroad, enhancing the role of women in society, supporting women's initiatives, and involving them in the development of various spheres were discussed.
It was noted that, thanks to the policies of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, the issue of enhancing the status of women in society is one of the country's key public policy priorities. It was emphasized that Tajik women and girls, regardless of their place of residence, can contribute to the advancement of Tajikistan's culture, national values, and achievements through their initiatives and creative work.
