The quota for Tajik citizens to study at Russian higher education institutions is increasing annually. Currently, the number of quotas has reached 1,000. This was announced by Tajikistan's Minister of Education and Science, Rahim Saidzoda, during the first ministerial conference of the International Russian Language Organization, which is taking place in Moscow, TASS reports.
According to the minister, Russia's educational quota for Tajik citizens is growing annually. He noted that while it was 618 places in 2017, it will reach 1,000 places in the 2024–2025 academic year.
Rahim Saidzoda also reported that more than 24,000 Tajik citizens are currently studying at Russian higher education institutions.
The minister noted that branches of leading Russian universities are successfully operating in Tajikistan. These include a branch of Lomonosov Moscow State University, a branch of the National University of Science and Technology MISiS, and a branch of the National Research University MPEI. Furthermore, the Russian-Tajik Slavic University operates in the republic.
A quota campaign for education in Russia is being implemented in Tajikistan in accordance with a decree adopted in the Russian Federation in 2013. A quota of 1,000 places for study at Russian higher education institutions has been allocated for the republic for the new academic year.
