On March 18, 2026, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan held a briefing with Sanoi Boyzoda, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Head of the Secretariat of the Fourth High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action, "Water for Sustainable Development," 2018–2028. This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan.
During the event, it was noted that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan is actively continuing preparations for the conference, which will be held from May 25 to 28, 2026, in Dushanbe.
The aim of the conference is to strengthen cooperation, create favourable conditions for the implementation of concrete actions to address global water-related issues, and support the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development".
It is noted that the conference will be a key event in preparation for the 2026 UN Water Conference, as well as a platform for informal consultations and discussions with all stakeholders on preparations for the UN Water Conference, which will be held in Tajikistan in 2028.
In this regard, participants were provided with detailed information about the conference program, including thematic sessions, special panels, forums, an international exhibition, as well as parallel and cultural events.
Registration for conference participants is reported to have opened on March 5, 2026.
