Approximately 30 4G/LTE base stations were added to MegaFon Tajikistan's network in January and February of this year. Focusing on high-quality service, the operator also began upgrading its voice communications equipment.
New fourth-generation base stations (BS) have been commissioned across the country. In Sughd Region, the 4G network has been strengthened in the cities of Buston, Penjikent, and Khujand, as well as in the districts of Ayni, Devashtich, Zafarabad, and Istaravshan. In Khatlon Region, the network has been strengthened in the districts of Qubodiyon and Farkhor. In Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, new equipment has been commissioned in the Murghab district. The network development project also covers the cities of Dushanbe, Vahdat, Gissar, and Tursunzade, as well as the districts of Varzob, Rasht, and Rudaki in the RRS. In the areas where the new BSs were launched, mobile internet speeds have increased two- to threefold.
4G equipment not only increases data transfer speeds, but also enables LTE calls with crisper, clearer sound. The upgrade has already yielded results: the number of VoLTE (Voice over LTE) users has tripled compared to last year, from 5% to 15% of the company's total subscribers. The expanded 4G/LTE coverage area allows subscribers to make stable, uninterrupted voice calls.
The voice switches and the voice communications core (CS Core) are being modernized. The project includes upgrading the firmware of key components, optimizing the architecture, and increasing resources for processing voice traffic. These measures increase the network's resilience to peak loads, reduce connection times, and improve the quality of voice calls.
"Digitalization in Tajikistan is a large-scale project consisting of many small steps. Every fourth-generation base station, every kilometer of fiber-optic communication line brings us closer to our goal. The daily work of telecom workers opens up new business opportunities and makes digital services more accessible to subscribers in cities and regions of the country," says Alijon Ganiev , Technical Director of MegaFon Tajikistan.
