Tajikistan is hosting the national Children's and Youth Book Week festival, entitled "Beacon of Enlightenment." The event runs from April 2 to 9, according to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The festival, organized at the initiative of the Ministry of Culture of Tajikistan and featuring writers, scholars, and industry experts, is taking place in all cities and districts of the country and is timed to coincide with the 35th anniversary of the Republic of Tajikistan's state independence.
The festival will feature an exhibition of works by children and adolescents, a fair and sale of books, newspapers, and magazines, meetings between children and adolescents and writers, photo documentation from past festivals, as well as excerpts from performances by the State Republican Puppet Theater "Lukhtak" and performances by artists from the State Circus.
It is noted that April 2nd is celebrated worldwide as International Children's Book Day. This date has been observed since 1967 to foster a love of books and draw public attention to children's literature.
Children's literature is one of the most important tools through which education is formed and the horizons of the younger generation are broadened.
