Farmers in the Zafarabad district plan to sow cotton on an area of 14,730 hectares this year, according to the press service of the Sughd regional administration.
On April 6, the Chairman of the Sughd Region, Rajab Akhmadzoda, took part in a cotton sowing campaign under film at the Bekhruz farm.
During the event, he gave specific instructions to the district leadership, jamoat chairmen, farmers, and responsible farm officials regarding the timely and high-quality sowing of cotton and ensuring a high yield.

It was noted that the Bekhruz farm has 19 hectares of land, and this year the film-covered cotton planting method will be introduced across the entire area. According to experts, this method is an advanced cotton growing technology, characterized by lower costs and higher profitability.
During the presentation of the 2026 crop planting plan, it was reported that all farming practices in the Zafarabad district plan to sow crops on an area of 28,989 hectares. Of this, 18,291 hectares are for spring sowing, primarily cotton. Cereals, legumes, melons, forage, and industrial crops also play an important role.

It was also noted that during the autumn season, agricultural producers in the region sowed 5,868 hectares of wheat and barley, and the current condition of their seedlings is assessed as good.
It was emphasized that efficient land use and high yields from each plot can make a significant contribution to improving the population's standard of living and ensuring the country's food security.
