The Tajikistan U-16 national team returned to Dushanbe after winning the Central Asian Football Association (CAFA) Championship, which was held in Tashkent. This was announced by the Tajikistan Football Federation.
In the morning, the team arrived at Dushanbe International Airport, where they were met by representatives of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, the Committee for Youth and Sports under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, the Tajik State Institute of Physical Culture named after Saidmumin Rakhimov, as well as journalists, fans, and relatives of the players and coaching staff.
At the 2026 CAFA tournament, the national team, coached by Jafar Akhmedov, played four matches. The team defeated Turkmenistan 5-1, Kyrgyzstan 4-0, and Afghanistan 3-2, and also drew 0-0 with Uzbekistan.
Following the tournament, the Tajik team scored 10 points and confidently took first place, becoming the champion.
This victory marked the fifth in the history of the Tajikistan youth team at the Central Asian Football Association Championships. The team previously won the tournament in 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2025.
