Tajikistan presented projects in the fields of artificial intelligence and green energy at a meeting between Minister of Industry and New Technologies Sherali Kabir and Jared Cohen, President of Global Affairs at Goldman Sachs, the ministry reported.
During the negotiations, the country was presented as a platform for the development of global AI infrastructure, with a sovereign AI ecosystem and hydropower potential identified as key areas.
One of the central projects was the special zone "Area AI", positioned as the world's first specialized free economic zone for companies in the field of artificial intelligence.
The Area AI consortium includes international companies such as Perplexity AI, Cerebras Systems, Supermicro, Yotta, and other technology partners.
Particular attention was paid to Tajikistan's potential as a center for green computing based on the use of hydropower resources.
The minister also presented the AI-GOV project—an agent-based artificial intelligence system for public administration. As part of this initiative, the Perplexity Comet platform has already been implemented at the Ministry of Industry, and the system itself is being used to automate licensing processes for small and medium-sized businesses.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed to continue cooperation in implementing strategic projects in the field of artificial intelligence.
