On April 17, a working meeting was held in the Sughd region to summarize the region's socioeconomic development for the first quarter of 2026. This was reported by the regional governor's press service.
Opening the meeting, Sughd Region Chairman Rajab Akhmadzoda noted that from January to March of this year, authorities implemented measures to implement the policies of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, as well as instructions arising from his Address to Parliament and working visits to cities and districts of the region.
According to him, thanks to the timely completion of assigned tasks, the expansion of economic reforms, and the efficient use of budgetary funds, it was possible to ensure sustainable economic development in the region.
Deputy Governor of the region Faizullo Kosimi presented a report on the region's performance over the first three months. He reported that retail turnover in the first three months amounted to 5.6 billion somoni, an increase of 12.8%. Foreign trade turnover reached $1.3 billion, an increase of 41%.
Imports amounted to USD 779.2 million, an increase of 25.3%, while exports amounted to USD 518.6 million, an increase of 73.7%.
The region's economy attracted $241.8 million in investment, which is 8.1% more than the same period last year.
The tax revenue plan was exceeded, ensuring the fulfillment of social obligations. State budget revenues amounted to 1 billion 823 million somoni, or 103.9% of the plan, while local budget revenues exceeded the planned level by 1 billion 285 million somoni.
The budget expenditure for the reporting period amounted to 1 billion 143 million somoni and was fully financed.
