On April 17, 2026, a working meeting was held at the Secretariat of the Collective Security Treaty Organization between Acting Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO Samat Ordabayev and Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary General for Central Asia, Head of the UN Regional Center for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia Kakha Imnadze.
During the conversation, the parties noted the dynamic development of contacts between the CSTO Secretariat and the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, as well as other relevant UN structures.
Discussing a wide range of international issues, the meeting participants paid particular attention to the situation in Central Asia. They emphasized the importance of continuously monitoring the impact of the "Afghan factor" on peace and security in the region, as well as the importance of taking preventive measures to counter existing risks and threats to stability.
In addition, the parties particularly noted the need to further strengthen cooperation between representatives of the CSTO Secretariat and the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia in the information-forecasting and information-analytical spheres.
